A snapshot of Puebla de Arenoso

The water of the Mijares river is collected in the Embalse Arenoso (sandy reservoir), a spot offering excellent panoramic views. Over it there is the emblematic hanging bridge inaugurated in 1894.

La Puebla has three pretty parishes: Los Cantos, La Monzona and Los Calpes. Other interesting places to visit are the Peña Giberte and the Maimona river, as well as the Las Palomas well, a natural bathing pool collecting the waters of the Molino de los Peiros. On the outskirts of the town there are the remains of the Moslem castle of La Viñaza, also known as the Castillo Arenoso.

The town centre layout is medieval and in its centre there are the main square and the 16th-century church of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.

La Puebla also has many hermitages such as those of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, San Cristóbal, Nuestra Señora del Loreto and Santa Bárbara. Its festive calendar begins on January 17 with the Hogueras de San Antón bonfires. At the beginning of August they celebrate the main fiestas in honour of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, with the mass gathering and procession to the hermitage.

In September the fiestas dedicated to San Mateo and La Virgen del Loreto take place and in December they celebrate the “días de la Santa”.
