The region of Alto Palancia lies between the Mediterranean coastline and the high peaks of Teruel.

The surface area covers more than 1,000 square kilometres, and has an abundance of very interesting beauty sports and medicinal spas

What shall we eat?
A wide selection of typical local dishes: rabbit with snails, quails in brine, chicken stuffed with truffles, duck in orange sauce and cold meats are just some examples of the rich culinary delights. Try the rice with pinto beans cooked in stock, rice with cabbage and spare ribs, trout with almonds etc. Among the desserts the vermicelli cake and torrijas should not be missed.

Local crafts
The craftsmen’s skill, originality and creativity gives the carvings, ceramic objects and wicker work a unique character that makes them commercially viable.

What is there to see?
Alto Palancia comprises various areas: the course of the River Palancia, crossing the centre and surrounded by the Espina and Espadán sierras to the north and east. The Iberian mountains to the south and west lead towards he sea and form the third section.

Community of Alto Palancia

Public association formed in 1993 to promote various activities and public services to neighbouring areas including the municipal districts of:

Altura
Carthusian monastery Vall Crist, Tower Square, Main Square, Nature Park of Sierra Calderona, the Berro springs, etc.

Azuébar
Arab castle (12th/13th centuries), mercurial ovens, natural springs at Sas fountain, Peña Blanca, etc.

Castellnovo
The Castle, the calvary, Hermitages of San Antonio an San Cristóbal, Parish Church of Santos Reyes, tower of Mal Paso (Metal age).

Chóvar
Town Hall, remains of a Moorish castle, barranco Carbón, Fresca Springs, Bellota Peak, etc.

El Toro
Iberian settlement dating from 11th century. San Miguel and San Roque hermitages (12th/14th centuries), Barranco del Resinero, etc.

Gátova
Parish church, medicinal springs, route of the mills, etc.

Geldo

Jérica
